I’ve seen a number of threads that have tips sprinkled in for active duty/Vets who are Med school hopefuls and wanted to start a thread as a one stop shop to get some advice from those who have gotten acceptances. Some topics I’ve seen come up multiple times:
1. How/best way to leverage you service in your application.
2. How/best way to complete courses while on AD.
3. Military friendly MD/DO schools (any schools that offer in-state preference/tuition to SMs).
4. MCAT study tips/plans while on AD.
5. Options for clinical volunteering or shadowing while on active duty.
6. Success stories for those on AD with lower GPAs from service academies.
7. How to approach obtaining a conditional release from your branch, especially if you still have time on your contract/ADSO.
8. Transition from AD to HPSP.
9. HPSP tips for those with families.
Please feel free to add or remove, just looking to compile a solid thread for SMs looking to start the process. Happy new year!
