Hello, so as someone in med school in Canada, who is starting to think about residency, I have several questions.
I know in Canada family medicine residency takes 2 years, while in USA family medicine takes 3 years. Ive read that you need 3 years of FM residency to move to USA from Canada, so most people would do an extra year of residency /fellowship, then apply to Canada.
My question is would it be possible for me to do a 2 year res program in Canada, then get a 1yr contract in Canada? Then apply for jobs in USA (preferably Texas)?
Basically, im wondering if 3 years of training are required or if 2 years of training + one year of work experience can use to get board certified?
