Many of the threads on this topic are very old and attempts to revive them have been program specific rather than asking for a general update on the original rankings. Given that MS3s will soon be applying for away rotations and California is a popular spot, I thought we could get a fresh perspective. I would love attending/resident opinions. MS4s, fresh off the interview trail, may be uniquely able to comment on some of my questions listed below.
What is the order of programs in California based on competitiveness?
Do any programs stand out as being particularly malignant or supportive?
Are there programs that have made significant changes in the past few years (good or bad) that would be important for an applicant to know about?
These are some of the questions I was hoping to find answers to. Im mainly looking for information on academic programs (Stanford, UCI, UCSF, UCSD, UCLA, etc.) but feel free to discuss community programs if you have the knowledge. Thanks!
