For physicians in the Army or military in general (active duty and reserves/guard) - Are AOA board certifications recognized as equally as ACGME/ABMS ones?
I was a prior active duty Army physician trained at an MTF (obviously an ACGME program in the military), finished my active duty obligation years and separated into the reserves to complete a civilian residency program in a different specialty on my own.
Now that I’m a specialist, I’m considering going back in to active duty Army or applying to be a civilian government employee at an MTF. I’m sure the federal/military systems accept ABMS and AOA boards equally but I couldn’t find the regulations (especially Army regs in case I go back in active duty) on those details.
I’d appreciate it if anybody has any answers and also reference to Army regs.
Thank you!
