Teaching Residents

Posted 09-15-2007 at 01:21 PM by Andrew_Doan

Watching my son learn how to do something new makes me proud and anxious. I am happy for him when "he gets it!"; however, it is frustrating to observe him struggling at each step. Fighting the urge to jump in and complete the steps for him, I know that his struggle with each step is necessary for his development as a young man. I know because I have struggled with the same steps.

Teaching residents is very similar to watching my son struggle with new challenges and steps....

Can this be real?

Posted 07-10-2008 at 03:37 PM by dgoody123

I know I am not the first person to ever consider becoming a doctor at 39 years old -- it just seems so incredibly out there for this to be a possibility.

I have spent the last 20 years of my life trying to find what I wanted with my life. I have chased money, worked in finance, insurance, the military, software, and now -- as a contractor! In all of this searching I was trying to find something that would give me purpose -- something that would provide meaning to this crazy life....

A History of Neuronix

Intro

The problem with starting a blog is that there’s all this background information about your life that you can only try to communicate. Sure, I want to write all about the constant battle it was to get into an MD/PhD program, the battle it has been in my personal life since joining med school, and the battle it has been to get my PhD. Yet, there’s 22 years of life I was living before that all started. If I started writing without an introduction, as I have on the Physician Scientist...

1) Thou shall not troll
2) Thou shall not discuss MD vs DO
3) Thou shall not say MCATs
4) Thou shall not start the same stupid threads
4.5) Thou shall make liberal use of the search function
5) Thou shall not apply/submit primaries after July

6) Thou shall not enquire about thy chances outside of the proper forum
7) Thou shall not hate on URMs!
8) Thou shall not take any SDN member to be thy "average applicant" for thou knows not...
Clever girl.
